NASCAR Driver Jason Bowles
2011 Toyota All-Star Champion and former NASCAR K&N Series Champion, Jason Bowles is a rising star in the world of racing.
Jason’s first taste of racing came at the age of 10 at Adams Kart Track, a local kart track in Southern California. It was soon thereafter that Jason knew he was going to chase his dream of becoming a professional race car driver.
Since 1994, Jason has devoted all of his time and effort to karting in hope that it would lead to an opportunity in a race car. His reputation as an intense, intelligent, and talented driver has allowed him to be very successful in building one of the best karting resumes in the country. His success in karts as well as his determination to be successful has opened the door for Jason to climb the racing “ladder”.
Jason’s first step on the ”ladder” was the Cooper Tires Zetec Championship, which Jason competed in during the 2004 season. The Zetec series features full-winged cars with Ford 2.0 liter 140hp engines. 2004 was a successful season, he was able to earn 8 podium finishes along with one win at the series opener in Sebring, FL.
Jason walked away with the 2004 Greg Moore Rookie-of-the-year award. His success had definitely caught the eye of many of the sport’s insiders.
Jason also competed in the Grand-Am Cup ST class, driving a Lexus IS 300 alongside sports car veteran Andy Lally for Team Lexus. This was Jason’s first racing experience driving a sedan, and just like everything else Jason had driven, he came to grips with the car very quickly. In his first two starts had not finished outside the top-5, and recorded a podium finish in his very first race with the team.
In 2006, Jason changed the direction of his career from open-wheel racing to stock cars. He ran his first season in a Late Model at Irwindale. Jason was hooked after the first race and knew it was direction he wanted to go. After one season in a Late Model at Irwindale, Jason was given the opportunity to move up into the Nascar K&N Pro Series with Sunrise Ford Racing and owner Bob Bruncati. Ironically, the same person Jason bought his first go-kart from at the age of 10.
In 2007, Jason was able to come to grips with the car and series scoring a top-5 in his first start. By season’s end, Jason would accumulate eight top-5’s, 1 pole, 2 wins and 3rd in the championship.
The success continued in 2008. Jason showed more improvement with the addition of a new crew chief, and was able to accumulate seven top 5’s, 5 poles, 4 wins and second-place in the championship.
2009 was the crowning season for Bowles in the K&N Pro Series as he finished his championship season with the series best average finish records in the last 20 years. Jason won three more races, four more poles and turned his sights to 2010 and stepping up the ladder to NASCAR’s elite ranks in the Truck, Nationwide and Cup Series. In 2011 Jason earned a Championship title at the Toyota All-Stars race.
Jason joined MacDonald Motorsports to drive the #81 car sponsored by American Majority Racing in 2012.
